the show opens up with a recap of Lashley winning the main event at December to Dismember and becoming the ECW world champion. this was followed up by a promo from an emotional Paul Heyman. he said that it took five other competitors, an elimination chamber, and weapons to defeat the Big Show, and so, considering this, Bobby Lashley’s rematch clause match this night would not be under extreme rules, figuring Lashley could not win without hardcore advantages.
after this is our first match of Rob Van Dam and CM Punk teaming up together against Test and Hardcore Holly. this match was very obviously affected by the extreme elimination chamber that happened only two nights beforehand, with every wrestler havnig some injury from it that they were still feeling the affects of. RVD had some dressing on his forehead, CM Punk had bandages on his right shoulder, and Tazz claimed that Test had reported pain in his ribs as well as Holly reporting pains in his back, though the only evident reaction of the two came from Test. perhaps this was the reason why I feel the match did not live up to it’s potential.
main highlights:
-RVD had a nice side kick to Holly
-RVD was at one point sent to the outside where Test brutally pummeled him
-Punk eventually got the hot tag by RVD
-Heyman’s enforcers interrupted, the ref called the match, supposedly with RVD and Punk winning by disqualification, than Sabu came out and helped save them from the enforcers
after this was the match between Daivari and Tommy Dreamer and, as they showed a clip of it just as the match, Dreamer was comming in at a disadvantage having taken a massive chokebomb from the Great Khali onto the stage two nights earlier at December to Dismember. he came to the ring bandaged up from the shoulder across the back, to the other shoulder. also, it should be noted that as Daivari talked, it was the first time he had spoken in ECW in english. this match, though short, was still the most interesting match and, almost sadly, gets match of the night.
main highlights:
-Daivari wisely struck Dreamer’s back repeatedly, followed up by a surfboard
-Dreamer gave Daivari his infamous flurry of strikes to the face
-perhaps not completely intentionally, Dreamer gave Daivari a one-armed chokebomb of his own
-Dreamer attempted a Dreamer DDT, Daivari countered it into his armlock DDT, but before he could do it, Dreamer countered THAT move back into his Dreamer DDT and got the pinfall, this being followed by Khali comming into the ring and chokebombing Dreamer onto a chair
Tazz and Joey Styles then announced that ECW would air at I believe 8 on saturday next week instead of it’s usual time of 10 on tuesday.
after this was a promo from the Big Show. Show basically went with what Paul Heyman was saying earlier, saying that nobody could beat him one-on-one.
next up is a match between a reluctant KellyKelly and Aerial. I looked carefully on my tivo and this match literally lasted less than a minute, kind of a waste of time if you ask me for such a bland match.
main highlights:
-the ref throws Kevin Thorn out to make the match at least more even than it was
-Aerial did a Thez Press Knuckle on Kelly Kelly
-after Kelly grabbed the ropes, Aerial dragged her to the middle of the ring and continued her assault with mounted punches
-Aerial got up to argue with the ref and, having her back turned to Kelly, Kelly rolled up Aerial in a schoolboy to get the three count
immediately after the match, Mike Knox came to the ring in a suit and with flowers to greet KellyKelly. he said, on one knee, that he was sorry and asked for Kelly’s forgiveness. Kelly forgave him and he got up, then said that the only thing he was sorry for was not dumping her earlier. he then threw the flowers in her face. he then did his finisher to Kelly, I forget what it’s called so for now I’ll just call it a twisting reverse STO. Tazz got so infuriated ringside that he got out of his seat and into the ring to chase Knox out, and make sure Kelly was okay.
lastly is the main event between the Big Show and Bobby Lashley. this was a long match of complete boredom. I watch the show three times to write these reviews and to be honest, I watched this match once and found it too boring to watch twice more. a lot could’ve been cut from this, as well as the match right before it, to make time for the other matches to give them a better chance at being good matches but no, Vince cums himself every time he sees big, burley men in the ring so he had to drag out this dull match.
main highlights:
-Show had an affective bearhug on Lashley
-Lashley tried to lift Show and it turned into a cross-body pin by show for a two count
-Show countered a cross-body and slammed Lashley straight down onto the match
-Lashley managed to affectively scoop slam Show, and got the three count for the win, thus remaining the ECW world champion
final thought:
I must be brunt, this week’s show was, to say the least, not very impressive, at all. partially this can be blamed on ECW’s best wrestlers being injured from December to Dismember, but that can really only go so far. the first two matches ended with interference, the diva match was pointless, and the main event may be the worst main event of all main events that I personally have ever seen. at least during the other weeks there was one good match to carry the rest of the show, but the best we got this week was Daivari and Dreamer, two guys who are never going to get anything worthwhile out of WWE. regardless, I will remain faithful to Heyman and to ECW and continue to watch next week in the hopes that it improves itself.
After much speculation amongst the Internet Wrestling community, today WWE.com has announced that The Big Show will be taking some time away from the ring.
The Big Show stated: “I’ve reached a point in my career right now where I am a little run down and hurt pretty bad physically,” explained the Extremist. “I’ve been wrestling the past three months pretty much in pain every night. I can’t compete at the level I want to compete at, and that’s the most heartbreaking thing.”
It may be that we have seen The Big Show in a ring for the last time. The full story is online here.

Bobby Lashley emerged from the first-ever weapons-filled Extreme Elimination Chamber with the ECW World Title.
Rob Van Dam and Bob Holly (who replaced Sabu) began the match until ECW fan favorite CM Punk emerged from his pod with a steel chair, followed five minutes later by Test who bore a crowbar.
Punk’s chair was ultimately used against him by the hardcore veteran RVD. Van Dam flattened the straight-edge Extremist with a Five-Star Frog Splash for the pin.
With Punk eliminated, Van Dam faced a double-team effort by Holly and Test as Heyman shouted instructions to his hired hands. Suddenly, Test exploded into his cohort Holly with a ferocious big boot to the face and eliminated Bob Holly via pinfall.
Much to the dissapointment of ECW-Blog.com Test pinned RVD after a savage elbow drop from the top of Show’s pod.
Lashley speared his way through Test with minutes to spare before the entry of his final and most formidable foe, Big Show.
Lashley pinned the Big Show after escaping a chokeslam and spearing the 500 giant.

It’s been a while but I’m back. This is the Insyder once again with a new creation called (From the desk of…). There’s been rumors that the recently fired ECW mastermind, Paul Heyman, is headed along with ex-ECW Heavyweight Champion, Big Show, to the Florida based NWA-TNA. It’s heard also that Sabu is “trying to get fired”. Could he be a part of the duo looking Florida bound? What I’d say do is to join the other two WWE brands and give ECW a bigger time slot. I say make ECW the “extreme” that it used to be. Let it be called not WWE/ECW but just ECW and give them room to show their talents. Have “extreme rules” matches because that’s what ECW is all about. What I think needs to happen, is the powers that be need to get a consept from the fans point of view and not a writers point of view. But that’s just my thoughts. Come back for more “From the desk of…” and get my thoughts on more ECW happenings.

Ever “googled” someone? Go and google “Extreme Championship Wrestling” and you’ll find 1,120,000 results. The ECW past is but still as clear in every wrestling fans mind as what they had for breakfast. I want to take a look at the “old ECW” seeing how 2006 is almost over. I’m taking now as my time to reflect on this past year but not just there. I’m going back to when ECW began. Now, come along with me and take a look at past “Extremists”. Thank you wikipedia.com for the information.
While there is too many to name, they can be found at the provided link.

From A to Z, these are the names of everyone that has graced ECW through the years. Look closely and you’ll find your ECW Extremist. Yes, they’ve been to this and that organization but they have made a name for themselves everywhere they’ve been. I, for one, don’t like this new ECW which is more WWE than ECW ever was to begin with. I hope that 2007 is a lot better than 2006 in the case of ECW. While this is short, I assure you to come back for more from the Insyder and read what’s from the desk of…the
As previously reported on ECW.com, Paul Heyman was left ECW shortly after the poorly received December To Dismember Pay Per View.
The long-time creative force and face of ECW was technically the head writer of ECW, but like all of his peers he answered to and was edited by Vince McMahon. It has been reported that Vince McMahon had always either somewhat or heavily editing Heyman’s scripts for ECW TV. The PPV on Sunday was said to be a collaborative effort, however it was heavily edited by McMahon even more than usual.
It has been rumblings that several wrestlers were aware of Heyman’s original plans for the Elimination Chamber match, but were given different plans from McMahon. Vince McMahon was seemingly behind several changes, including Sabu being removed from the match, as well as CM Punk and RVD being eliminated so early, potentially to force the crowd to cheer for the eventual winner Bobby Lashley.
Interestingly it is thought that Paul Heyman had scripted CM Punk to be eliminated first in the extreme elimination chamber, but it was Vince McMahon’s call to basically bury him in the match.
During the evening McMahon appeared to be satisfied with the results, but by the next day he was said to have realised how bad it was and that’s when the blame game begun. After a backstage meeting lead by Vince and Stephanie Mcmahon, Heyman left the arena without saying goodbye or announcing what happened to anyone. He immediately went to the airport and flew home.
Reports suggest that Paul Heyman has not been fired, he is still under a WWE contract, at least a short term contract extension. It is unknown if his release will still be worked on, or if Vince McMahon will be dealing with it once he returns from Iraq.
David Lagana will be taking over as the new head of ECW creative. Lagana was formerly part of Smackdown creative before being placed on the ECW staff early in the year. It is believed that Legana’s initial move to the New ECW was as a fall-back option in case Paul Heyman ever fell out of the picture. Heyman did write last week’s ECW on Sci Fi show, so this week’s episode will be the first under Dave Lagana as head writer.
WWE.com has broke the news that ECW Original Danny Doring has been released.
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Danny Doring. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Danny Doring’s release hasn’t come as much of a suprise to ECW Fans, his release seemed imminent once Amish Roadkill was sent to OVW to get repackaged - leaving Doring with less than limited TV time to showcase his skills.

ECW World Champion Lashley def. Rene Dupree
Bobby Lashley defeated Rene Dupree, his victory came shortly after he speared the returning Dupree in the corner and then hit the Dominator for the win.
Matt Striker def. Balls Mahoney
Brad Armstrong joined the commentary team for a match between ECW original Balls Mahoney and Matt Striker, Striker got the victory.
The Great Khali def. “The Reject” Shannon Moore
The Great Khali made his ECW in-ring debut after Daivari coaxed “The Reject” Shannon Moore into a singles match earlier in the night. Davari stepped aside for Khali to decimate Moore.
Tommy Dreamer came to ringside with a steel chair and nailed Daivari. Khali immediately came to his associate’s defense and hit a two-handed chokeslam atop the steel ring steps. EMTs flooded the ringside area and carted Dreamer out on a stretcher.
Test def. Rob Van Dam & Sabu in a Triple Threat Match
In the shows main event, RVD looked to be on his way to victory with a Five-Star Frog Splash until Test stole RVD’s pin on Sabu.
To Test’s dismay, moments after his victory, the revelation was made that Van Dam received the most votes on ECW.com.
An update on Tommy Dreamer’s assault by The Great Khali is as follows.
According to WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios, Dreamer suffered a mild concussion, in addition to whiplash, a wrenched back and bruised kidneys.
“It looked like [Dreamer] had been involved in a car accident,” Rios said.

Also in the news is what’s in store for ECW or I should say what WWE has in store for ECW.
The plan is for ECW to become something of a high level developmental territory, which was to be the original direction for the brand at first. Several Ohio Valley Wrestling talents (and presumably Deep South Wrestling talents as well) are expected to appear on ECW television soon. We don’t have any specific names yet, but it should be known soon.
