Strip Poker?!

Posted by admin in WWE Divas

An Extreme Strip Poker competition starring all WWE Divas and ECW Vixens will take place on a what is being billed as a “can’t miss edition of ECW” on October 10.

This announcment will probably be greeted with enthusiasm by some sections of the ECW audience, who will hope that the likes of Candice Michelle, Torrie Wilson and Kristal Marshall will all be delt a bad hand.

Many ECW fans will ofcourse be hoping that Jazz and Trinity will not be competing, luckily for us the likes of Chyna and Nicole Bass have long been fired from the WWE umbrella! Still it’s a shame that the lovely Trish Stratus has retired!

Introducing: Henry Godwinn

Posted by admin in Henry Godwinn

September the 15th saw an announcment that Mark Canterbury, or Henry Godwinn as he is more widely known, had resigned with the WWE.

In the mid-1990s, Mark Canterbury joined the WWF as an Arkansan pig farmer known as Henry Orpheus Godwinn. Godwinn began as a “heel” character helping the the Million Dollar Corporation, but later feuded with Triple H (then Hunter Hearst Helmsley) as the “face”.

In 1996 he formed a tagteam with Phineas I. Godwinn (who later became known as Mideon) and were collectively known as The Godwinns. Over the following two years, The Godwinns held the Tag Team Championship on two occasions and were managed by Cletus, Hillbilly Jim and former ECW valet Tammy Syntch (Sunny).

In 1998 the tag team changed their gimmick and became “Southern Justice”. The tag team was short lived due to a botched move by the Legion Of Doom. The move resulted in Canterbury suffering a cracked C7 vertebra. Shortly after returning to action Canterbury herniated his C7 vertebra and pinched a spinal nerve, necessitating spinal fusion surgery. He evenutally left the WWF and retired. In September 2006, Canterbury wrestled several tryout matches with the WWE.

It is yet to be announced with brand he will appear on, however a colourful or evil hogfarmer gimmick (complete with slop bucket), would make an interesting addition to the extreme championship wrestling roster.

They Could Be Extreme: #1 The Boogeyman

Posted by admin in They Could Be Extreme

Marty Wright’s was offerd a WWE contract after due his outstanding performance in the Tough Enough reality TV show.

After learning the trade in OVW, Smackdown fans were introduced to the Boogeyman. For a while The Boogeyman would appear backstage on and continue recite different nursery rhymes and screaming his catchphrase.

When he finally competed, he showed little wrestling ability, however he quickly became a fan favourite due to his gimmick. Before he tore his left bicep, he was undefeated and  enjoyed victories over the likes of JBL and Booker T.
Mary Wright was released after reportadley doing the bare minimum in regards to getting back into shape and missing several doctor checkups.
Due to the fan response to the character, it’s likely that The Boogeyman will reappear on WWE TV sooner rather than later.  ECW already has a Vampire character in Kevin Thorne,it’s likely that the Sci-Fi channel would appreciate The Boogeyman!

ECW Results: 26 September

Rob Van Dam faced Hardcore Holly in a Extreme Rules match. RVD was victorious after RVD hit his Van Daminator, sending a chair into Holly’s cranium. RVD then delivered a Five-Star Frog Splash to Holly. Van Dam then covered his opponent for the victory.

ECW also hosted to an Extreme Cat Fight between Francine and Ariel.Francine disrobed Ariel and mounted the vampiress until Kevin Thorn entered the ring to end the melee. Balls Mahoney came in to break up the double-team and rescue Francine, nailing Thorn with a chair for good measure.

CM Punk wasn’t in action in the show, but he did cut a promo stating that he wanted to “compete with the biggest and the best” in ECW – naming RVD, Sandman and ECW World Champion Big Show. ECW fans will no doubt be hoping for a CM Punk/RVD feud.

In the main event, the champion The Big Show faced ECW original The Sandman. The Sandman repeatedly chopped away at the champion with his Singapore cane, drawing blood from the 7-foot monster. The Big Show fought back and when the ECW Champion grabbed The Sandman’s throat and looked for the chokeslam until the challenger reversed it into a DDT. The ECW Original continued his assault, striking Big Show several times, then scaling the ropes and dropping one colossal shot to the head of the Extreme Giant.
It looked as if Sandman might become the new ECW champion until the Matt Striker distracted The Sadman, allowing the Big Show to finish the match with a Showstopper legdrop for the pin.

Bob Holly received 24 Stitches after ECW on SCI-FI went off the air last night. During his match against RVD, Bob Holly’s back was sliced open badly, when he suplexed Van Dam through a table and the metal frame cut him.

Holly was immediately taken to the back after the match and given medical treatment by the WWE doctor for RAW, SmackDown!, and ECW. The main doctor actually came to the ring and helped bandage Holly after the match ended.
Danny Bashman, who had been working with “brother” Doug as Paul Heyman’s personal security guards, suffered a torn biceps a few weeks back.

Bashman had surgery, and may be out of action until April, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Derrick Neikirk has replaced Danny Bashman in Heyman’s security.

Posted by admin in Rodney Mack

On September 15, 2006, it was reported on WWE.com that Rodney Mack (along with Marty Jannetty and Brad Armstrong) will be returning to the WWE to work with younger talent and may also have a chance to return to WWE full time as well

Rodney Mack first appeared in the WWE in 2003, under the name of Redd Dogg as Bull Buchanan’s replacement for John Cena’s enforcer.
That wouldn’t last long and he was soon switched to Raw under the name of Rodney Mack.
On Raw, Rodney Mack often competed in “White Boy Challenges”, where he would wrestle opponents for five minutes. He was undefeated in these matches until he was challenged and defeated by Goldberg.
After forming a team with Christopher Nowinski, he later teamed with Mark Henry before suffering a knee injury in November 2003.
Rodney Mack returned to WWE TV in July 2004, but only competed regularly on WWE Heat and was released in November that year.

There is a strong possibility that Rodney Mack will appear on ECW programming, his wife Jazz is also part of the ECW roster, but is yet to debut on ECW on Sci Fi.  It is more than likely that the pair will debut soon.

They Could Be Extreme: #2 Goldust

Posted by admin in They Could Be Extreme

Virgil Runnels III, known as Dustin Runnles to many in the wrestling world and Goldust to WWE fans, could certainly be a great addition to the ECW roster.

Before joining the WWE (then WWE) he competed in World Championship Wrestling, primarily in a tag team, before  winning the United States Title.

The character Goldust began in 1995 as a sexually ambiguous movie star, Goldust won the Intercontinental Championship and regulaly appeard in the later part of Pay Per View events. In 1998 Goldust began dressing up as different people, (such as Shaftdust, Manson Dust and Baby New Year) with Luna Vachon by his side. In 1999 Goldust feuded with Jeff Jarrett and former ECW favourite The Blue Meanie. Goldust was also planned to be behind the now infamous “GDTV” angle, but was released.

After a two year abscense Goldust returned to the WWE in 2002. He enjoyed success during this time period, winning the Hardcore Title 9 times and the tag team championship with Booker T. Goldut’s character evolved into a comedy character, much to the delight of the WWE fans.
After a brief stint wrestling in Japan and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Goldust returned to WWE Raw in 2005 and mainly competed in tag team action with Snitsky. He was released from his WWE contract after missing a scheduled appearance to deal with a personal court case between Runnels and his ex-wife (Terri/Marlena) without informing WWE officials first.

During his time in WWE, Dustin showed many different aspects to the Goldust character and competed in many different match types and styles, perhaps one day Goldust will bring shatterd dreams to the likes of The Sandman and Sabu?
